I told a customer not to buy DDO.
Howdy,
I'm an employee at a popular consumer electronics store. While working last Wednesday, I ran into a customer who had a copy of Turbine's Dungeons and Dragons Online in his hands.
My first reaction was surprise--wow! Someone's actually buying it!
After I overcame that, I asked him, Üh, have you.. tried the beta?
He replied that he hadn't, and then asked why.
To which I went into a long explanation as to how I had tried the beta and how, during beta, there are problems that exist because it's a beta or because of bad thinking/coding, and I went on explaining how me and my friends realized there were a lot of the latter and..
I felt bad for disuading him from trying it. Maybe he might like it, I thought, so I reminded him of this. At this point though, my warning had already found him.
Thanks, he said. And he put it back.
We then started discussing possible alternatives.
Guild Wars? He said he was looking into that.
City of Heroes/Villains? Not his thing, he admitted. Not mine either, really. I play it for my friends, though.
EVE Online? He hadn't heard of it, so I suggested he try it.
Dungeon Siege? BEST DUNGEON CRAWLER EVAR.
Just wanted to share the love.. for Guild Wars, and how far-reaching my dissapointment with DDO goes.
